Week 6 Case Study Digital Storytelling (Focus Quetions)

1) By creating digital stories Students are able to get in touch with some of the modern technologies used on a almost daily basis by buisness persons, teachers or just a individual at home.
With Google Docs or Wikis the teacher can enable them to brainstorm together and bounce of ideas of one another. With Power Point or iMovie or any other program they can develop their digital stroies. Students become more advanced in their typing skills, creativity skills, communication, grammar, critical thinking skills and many other skills. They know how to present 'something' or themselves and know for example how to make a personal Portfolio  for an interview (scenario). Or how to create a PowerPoint Slideshow for a Meeting in their later jobs. I believe that knowing how to use certain programs on the computer, how to be creative and to be able  to tell a interesting, engaging story (about themselves or something else) through those medias; students competence and self-esteem level increases/can be increased.
2) As a teacher we must make sure that every student in the classroom is on the same page. Everybody should know what to do, where to do it and how to do it!! It is important to warn your students about potential danger like inappropriate popups or non-relaiable websources. With this; comes to show where to find quantative information and how to avoid unexpected material/Websites to show up on your screen. You need to let them know what your expectations are. What your rules are. That plagarism for example is unexeptable and instead promote independent research and thought development or critisicm. If data is taken form a website show them how to appropriatly source it make a correct reference.
3) Shy students get the chance to show their work with for example a vidoe in their story without actually speaking out loud in front of a classroom. Through images, music and videos they can show their talent and hard work they put into the digital story. If students are inscecure about their work the digital stories can be presented to the class without telling who created it, anonymys. If they get positive feedback their self-esteem may raise up and they will more likely to be more out going in the future.
